Council & Elections

Our RM is governed by a council consisting of a Reeve and six division councillors, with elections held every two years on a rotating basic for even and odd divisions.

ELECTION DAY

Monday, November 9, 2026

To elect councillors representing even-number divisions in rural municipalities.

General elections for selected divisions are held every two years; however, each council member holds office for a four-year term.

NOMINATION DAY

Wednesday, October 7, 2026

All completed nomination forms and public disclosure statements must be submitted to the RM office by 4:00 p.m.

RUNNING FOR MUNICIPAL COUNCIL

The Ministry of Government Relations has developed a document aimed at informing citizens of the requirements and process of running for Municipal Council. The “Consider Running for Municipal Council: Citizens guide for candidacy in municipal elections” is geared towards individuals who may be interested in or considering running for Council in the upcoming municipal election. The intent of this document is to better inform citizens of the process of running for Council and to provide a brief overview of what they can expect should they be successful in their quest of municipal office.
